Where Bloggers Create Party

My Creative Space

is a glimpse of my vision for a studio

someday

but for now is a corner in my kitchen

organized in my Grandma Edna's buffet

made for china, silverware, tablecloths and placemats

But instead holds my supplies

for writing, scrapbooking, painting, photography.

And an old TV stand rolls out with

writing resources

volumes of my journals

photoboxes

And being a mom, I share my space

which is my dining room/kitchen table

with a creative 3 year old named Erin Grace.

Simple.

Small.

It's where I am right now.

And it's my own corner of working out my inspiration.

  1. I am so thrilled that you are joining The Artistic Mother's Group. I love the work you've done on the projects so far. Beautiful job. I also love your creative space and that you include your children in your art. My 9 year old daughter Emily of Super Stitches, www.sewingsister.blogspot.com is in the group with me. She loves it. I'm glad that you found me and would love to get to know you. It's so nice to be connected with other believers.

We will be allowing two weeks for each project. But if you get behind, please don't worry. Just keep working a little each day. The whole point of this group is to develop the habit of doing art each day. It is also so we can encourage one another and be an accountability group. I personally need the accountability part of it. Knowing that others are coming to see what I'm up to is very motivational; otherwise, I may not finish it on my own. Some projects may be easier for you than others and may allow you to catch up. But if you don't, don't get discouraged. Just keep on going. This is a low pressure group. I want everyone to have fun and also enjoy visiting one another.

Please check my blog often for tips, notes of encouragement and exciting news. And please go and read my previous posts because they contain resources that will help you get a good start with the group.

Please also go back and read all of the posts I have written about The Artistic Mother group, starting near the end of February because there is a lot of good information in those posts that will help you get a good start with us. You can find all of them easily by going to "Labels" a little ways down in my side bar and clicking on "The Artistic Mother" label.

And one last thing. Please come and check the blog list of participants on a regular basis and visit and comment as much as you can. We want to all encourage one another.

And could you please send me your email address to sewingwithtrudy at yahoo dot com so that if I want to do a group email I'll have everyone's address? Thanks so much. And again, Welcome.

  2. I've got you added to the list and the blog roll. Blogger isn't allowing me to sign up as a follower at this time. Probably just a little glitch that will be solved soon. I'll try again tomorrow.

  9. Hello! Thank you so much for visiting me in Montana. Before I carved my space out of an old bedroom, my space was the dining room table. We create where ever can and whenever we can. :)Kit

  15. It's great to craft with your kids. I only get annoyed when my girl reaches around me and takes things...especially something I was actually using!! Miss Manners needs to re-visit our house.

  17. I love the painting and the hanging birds. Sweet! The kitchen table is where most moms create. And it's a great example for your kids too.

  19. I think your space is great, nothing wrong with small. Great that you have a grandmother's buffet to use. My granddaughter loves to go in my craft room and find treasures to create with.

  20. Yes Jesus does love us doesn't he... I create with my granddaughter all the time. The other day she was coming to spend the night and I have alot of stuff packed up to get ready for a move. Well, my daughter told her that there were no toys over here to play with and she might get bored. (She is 6) She said thats all right my grandma is very crafty!

    God love her!

BTW~ I am having a giveaway to celebrate the 30 day anniversary of my blog... Yes, only 30 days! I would love it if you would come by and visit at http://scrappingwithsherry1.blogspot.com/ Hope to see you there~ Sherry

  21. You did a great job making a creative space out of your kitchen corner. Reading your other post, I loved seeing the books from your grandparents and the pretty collage you are making. "Prairie Song" and your words about being happy and creative where you are right now are lovely.

Seeing your little one paint is too cute! :D
