August blasts in like a furnace.
100 degree temperatures
and
grasshoppers
take their toll
on
anything
that
is a shade
of
green.
The mosquitoes
and spiders
are peaking.
Grass and even the weeds
crunch under our feet.
Lightning storms pass through
leaving a few drops of rain
and prairie fires
in their wake.
The low growl of the motorcycles on the highway
in the distance
rumble on their way to Sturgis.
The sunflowers
provide for my grasping
for a glimpse beauty
to hold on to
in
the
August heat.
P.S. These were all taken between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.
just as the sun is going down.
It's the best time for the perfect light!
Hi Jodene,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! Luckily our monsoon season started last week. We've had several real wonderful rains. Unfortunately the lightening is happening too and sparking a few fires.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kay
