This is my first
"before and after".
I almost left it.
It was one of those,
"You want it, you can have it"
kind of deals.
I almost left it.
BUT
I brought it home and
hid it behind our storage shed . . .
so my husband
wouldn't say,
"What is that?!?"
Then I went to work
determined to get some paint on it
before he got home from the hayfield.
First white paint and black trim.
Then scraps left over from scrapbook pages
and material from last weekend's retreat.
Lots of bird themed papers.
While I worked,
I thought about how I'd almost
left it.
Almost thrown it out.
Almost gave up thinking
it was
worthless
a
piece
of
garbage.
And I thought about people.
How many people do we
give
up
on?
How many do we think are
hopeless?
How often do we view our situation
or
worse . . .
our
self
as
hopeless?
But
no matter what we think
or what others think,
God sees through
the broken, the broke down,
the wounded,
the mess,
to the true worth
deep within.
And transforms
broken lives
into
His
masterpiece.
This is far from "masterpiece"
but it was fun
to bring beauty and value
to an old shelf,
and be grateful
to God who
transformed
my
heart.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great job ;-)
ReplyDeleteDo you not love how God speaks to our spirits as we go through the process of creating! Fantastic post and the transformation on what was someones junk, well they wouldn't believe it was the same piece. Beautiful, oh the ways it can be used now!
ReplyDeleteI bet anything the person that gave you this piece of junk wants it back after they see what you have done with it. So is relly neat. Do you have the piece you wrote about it on it somewhere? We all need a reminder from time to time we are a masterpiece that may need a little black and white paint....
ReplyDeleteI hope the next time you have something scheduled I can make it. Good luck with your show in July.
Oh my gosh - so glad you picked it up! It's beautiful and you are so creative. What a great spiritual lesson for me too -- I ain't junk cuz God can do something incredible with me!!! Happy 4th. Thankful to be visiting here.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!! And such beautiful words. My sweet friend wants me to do this kind of thing to a ladder so she can use it as shelving....now after seeing this I know it is possible. Thanks for the inspiration. As always...love your work!!!!
